"SPENCER—WILLIAMS
A very pretty wedding was solemnised in the Lochaber schoolroom on Tuesday, November 24, the contracting parties being Mr. Arthur Spencer, eldest son of Mr. J. Spencer of Tawonga, Victoria and Miss Bertha Williams, fourth daughter of Mr. James Williams, of Lochaber. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Geo. Williams jnr., looked charming in a travelling costume of navy blue cashmere trimmed with Paris applique, white silk and chiffon, stole ends with drop ornaments, and a very pretty chiffon toque to match. She wore a handsome gold curb bracelet, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a shower bouquet of roses and asparagus. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Mattie Williams, sister, and Miss Hilda Tucker, of Victoria, cousin. Miss Williams was prettily attired in white figured muslin, trimmed insertion and tulle, with white Toreadore hat to match. She wore a gold brooch, of carnations and asparagus. Miss Tucker looked very sweet in creme delaine, trimmed with Paris lace and insertion, with picture hat to match. She also wore a gold curb bracelet, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a basket of carnations and asparagus. Mr. Jabez Williams, brother of the bride, attended the bridegroom as best man. The ceremony, which was a very impressive one, was conducted by the Rev. F. B. Oldham, of Narracoorte in the presence of a large number of guests. After the ceremony a reception was held in the schoolroom, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion by the residents ol Lochaber. Mr. L. DeGaris proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, and said he hoped their future lot would prove to be a happy one. The bridegroom suitably responded. The Rev. F. B. "Wedding Bells.
A very, pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, Kooringa, Burra, on Wednesday, May 28, when Mr. John Haren, Tilti, Jamestown, was united in matrimony to Miss Susanna Fahey, eldest daughter of Mr. Patrick Fahey, Brayfoot. The ceremony was performed by the Very Rev. Father Doyle, Jamestown, in the presence of a large gathering of friends of the bride and bridegroom. The bride was richly and becomingly attired in white silk, flowered chiffon, yoke sleeves, with wreath and veil, and carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses and maidenhair fern, and looked charming. The bridesmaids were Miss M. M. Howley, Spalding, cousin of the bridegroom; Miss Fahey, sister of the bride; and Miss O'Gorman, cousin. Misses Howley and Fahey were dressed in blue voile, and Miss O'Gorman wore cream silk, all three carrying pink and white rose plumes. The bridegroom was attended by his nephew (Mr. Michael Pilkington), Mr. Fahey (brother of the bride), and Mr. W. Fahey (her uncle). The bride was escorted to the altar rails by her father, who in due time gave her away. During the Mass the young couple received Holy Communion, and the nuptial blessing being imparted, the happy pair left the church amidst the cheery congratulations of their numerous friends, the "Wedding March" being played by Miss Maggie Tobin, Kooringa. After the ceremony the wedding party adjourned to the Aberdeen Hotel, where Host Naylon had prepared a sumptuous spread, and to which a great number sat down, all being friends of the bride and bridegroom. In the unavoidable absence of Father Doyle, who had to leave for Jamestown immediately the knot was tied, Mr. James Erwin (brother-in-law of the bridegroom), in a happy speech proposed the health of the young couple. Mr. Haren responded in felicitous terms on behalf of the bride and himself. Mr. Terence Haren then gave the toast of "The Bridesmaids," which was acknowledged by Mr. M. Pilkington. The health of the parents was given by Mr. Timothy Haren, and responded to by the father of the bride. Mr. Cal. Pilkington, in a humorous speech, proposed the toast of chivalrous "Host Naylon," which, needless to add, was drunk with the air, " For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." The wedding presents were numerous, being the best practical proof of the esteem, respect, and veneration in which the young pair were held by their legion of friends and wellwishers. After exchanging farewells, the bride proceeded to don her travelling dress, which was grey tweed, trimmed in velvet shades and silk braid, with cream hat trimmed with tinted plumes. The bridal party was next escorted by a large number of relatives and friends to the Burra railway station, where they were booked to leave by the 3.10 p.m. train for Adelaide. Hence, amidst kind felicitations, heartfelt good wishes, and showers of rice, the happy couple quickly boarded the down express, and were soon out of sight, off to the Eastern States, the land of honeymoons."
